People Like Us (2012) Review

Sam (Chris Pine) has been estranged from his parents for most of his adult life but has to come back for his father’s funeral. During a meeting with his father’s lawyer, he finds out that his father left a lot of money to a woman and her son; a sister he never knew existed. Elizabeth Banks plays Frankie, his sister with Josh (Michael Hall D’Addario) as her son.

Other stars include Michelle Pfeiffer who plays Lillian, Sam’s mother and Olivia Wilde who plays Sam’s girlfriend, Hannah.

The story is really quite interesting and the script was well written. However I also agree to some comments I read that Sam and Frankie seem like they could be in a relationship. But I guess if it was just another romcom then there wouldn’t be anything special about the film.

So yea, the film was touching and the actors did a really good job. There was one scene where Frankie beats Sam up and it looked really real, maybe it was. =o

Overall I give this an 8/10.
