Oblivion (2013) Review

Jack Harper (Tom Cruise) along with Victoria (Andrea Riseborough) are left on Earth as ‘the mop-up crew’ to repair and maintain drones. The purpose of these drones are to survey the land and eliminate any scavengers they find, the alien race that have destroyed half the world.

The overall story-line was quite interesting and the twists as well were promising, I didn’t know what to expect so the surprises were welcome.

The visuals as you can see from the trailer itself is simply amazing. All the gadgets and vehicles too looked very futuristic, but mainly the landscape and everything was really well done. Apparently the crew captured images from the top of a volcano and that served as the backdrop of the sky. Cool stuff.

The ending though was kind of lame….For one, the child I think was unnecessary and if this dude can find Julia (Olga Kurylenko) couldn’t all the other dudes find her as well? Problem? I think so. Hopefully that didn’t give anything away…though I know I didn’t really crypt what I said well.

Anywho it was a cool and interesting movie of what would happen to the world if aliens were to ever invade us. I guess we can count on Tom Cruise to save us then huh?

I give this a 7/10. The beginning could have been faster paced I think. It took some time to really get into it.
