Premium Rush (2012) Review

Wilee (Joseph Gordon-Levitt) is a bike messenger which basically entails him to ride around on his bicycle delivering envelopes and whatnot. By the looks of it, it seems extremely dangerous but as Wilee says, he loves the thrill of a bike with no breaks.

Anyways Wilee is on one of his errands delivering an envelope but someone chases him for it along the way. He is helped by Vanessa (Dania Ramirez), who is presumably his girlfriend. Jamie Chung stars as Nima, the girl who calls for the delivery.

The way the plot is revealed is quite good as it reveals bits and pieces along the way instead of showing the audience what exactly is happening throughout. It is also very fast-paced, as obviously they ride bikes, especially since Wilee doesn’t stop in the middle of traffic. He seems  to have this kind of 6th sense thing, like he knows what will happen with the different routes he takes so he takes the one where he doesn’t crash.

Joseph Gordon-Levitt actually crashed while filming as they are riding in live traffic New York, and required 31 stitches. Man filming in live traffic….that’s crazy. If you watch the movie or have watched it, you’ll know that they’re riding ridiculously fast and the falls don’t look orchestrated either.

Anyways the movie wasn’t that bad, though it was more focused on the bicycle rides.

I give this a 6/10.
